Trashy Dips - 1970's French Onion Dip with only 3 ingredients
Two trashy recipes for your weekend (and one classy one) . Frito Corn Salad and Creamy Herb Dip.
I put off writing this post for awhile, because truthfully there were these buns that I liked at Lindsay’s Super Bowl party and I wanted the recipe to include. However, some people won’t give you the recipes. So, what I can give you are my two recipes for my two trashy dips and one classy herb dip no recipe- recipe from Hunter.
This dip is literally the easiest, cheapest, most sinful thing in the world. And you don’t have to know how to cook a lick to make it. My Auntie (Aunt Susan) used to make it for me when I used to stay with her and I always loved it.
1970s French Onion Dip
Ingredients
2 Philadelphia Cream Cheese Bars
1 dry seasoning packet of Lipton French Onion Soup (it comes in a box in the soup aisle )
Whole Milk (However, Skim etc. or what you have works too.)
In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and Lipton soup mix and beat with an electric hand mixer until it’s all incorporated. Add a splash of milk and mix and keep doing this until you have a velvety sort of whipped mix. I took this to a party with some very good chefs and everyone kept eating it 🤣. It doesn’t take a lot of milk, but a few splashes will do. Serve with plain classic wavy lays.
Now, the scary one.
Frito Corn Salad. This is kind of trashy, but it’s also very good. If you’ll eat a walking taco or a chili in a bag, you’ll eat this. Someone brought this to a work party once at my Dad’s dental office and we had to have it. This isn’t really a dip. But I got it in my head that it was because of the chips 😅. You eat this one with a fork on a plate.
Frito Corn Salad
These are two different times over the years that I asked my mother for the recipe. Basically, you use extra of everything . A whole chopped green pepper (or orange or red or a mix) which is probably closer the the 1 cup in the second text. I’m sure I added extra red onion. And about 75 percent Miracle Whip. Miracle Whips freaks people out. But it is the secret ingredient to many things. It is tangier and lighter than mayo. Which is heavy. So, a mix is a good thing and it’s something my Mom usually changes when there is all mayo in something. And i’ve met a few people who also know this trick. So, don’t hate on it if you haven’t even tried it 😆. The top one is the most recent she sent me, so use your judgement. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to it to taste at the end. Makes a difference!
Hunter’s Creamy Herb Dip (One with some class, but the others do not lack sass. 🤣)
Hope this is a good jump off to your weekend!
